Digital Acceleration in Procurement: How Jopp Electronics Quotes Complex Projects in Record Time with Luminovo

Jopp Electronics is an E²MS service provider in the low-and-mid-volume / high-mix segment. The company manufactures for customers in industries such as industrial and medical technology and automotive, as well as for its own parent company, the Jopp Group. With 65 employees and demanding customers, Jopp Electronics introduced Luminovo in 2025 to bring its procurement process up to the same pace.

Starting point: solid processes, but limited scalability

When Luminovo came into the picture, Jopp Electronics wasn't dealing with any fundamental problems. Procurement was working, quotes were going out, and customers were being served reliably. But a closer look at the processes showed there was room to improve.

Before Luminovo, all of the request handling and pre-calculation work was done manually: Excel lists at line-item level, requests sent by email, and supplier responses typed in by hand. When several assemblies for the same customer shared common components, the team had to merge files together by hand. On average, two to four weeks went by between an incoming request and a finished quote.

Beyond efficiency, this was also a capacity issue. If a single calculation takes two to four weeks, you can't work on five projects at once.

The solution: from BOM upload to finished quote in one tool

Jopp Electronics aims to be up to date not only in manufacturing, but also in its own internal processes. The idea of supporting procurement digitally had been on the table for a while, originally with a different tool. After re-evaluating the market, the team chose Luminovo: a SaaS platform that could be rolled out quickly without local installation, with a user interface that lets all relevant departments be brought in through simple access management. The deciding factor was the combination of a well-thought-out product, a fast rollout, and a vendor familiar with the requirements of the industry.

Luminovo is now the central procurement tool at Jopp Electronics. When a request comes in, the team enters it directly into Luminovo. Before the internal kick-off even happens, the integrated online queries can produce an initial cost estimate: How big is the material volume of the BOM? Is the project economically viable? Questions that used to take weeks to answer now have a data-based starting point from day one, early enough to make an informed decision about how to approach a project.

The strategic procurement team uses this preparatory work to target its requests for quotation: Luminovo shows which components are the biggest cost drivers, which ones are hard to source, and where it makes sense to ask for manufacturer quotes. Requests to suppliers go out through the integrated request management system, complete and structured at component level. The responses come back through the same channel and feed straight into the calculation.

This is especially helpful with complex customer requests. When several assemblies in a project share the same components, Luminovo picks up on the overlaps automatically. The total volume across all assemblies is visible at a glance, with no Excel gymnastics and no risk of manual errors.

What Jopp's customers experience now

The internal change at Jopp Electronics is reaching its customers too. The Jopp parent company, which accounts for a significant share of revenue and is actively involved in the Luminovo process, now gets feedback within two to three days where it used to take weeks, even for more complex assemblies.

For external customers, the improvement is more subtle, but customers still notice it. One thing that lands particularly well: Jopp Electronics can now give reliable answers on lifecycle status and compliance. Are the components still in the manufacturer's program? Are they REACH-compliant? That information is now built into the process. When alternatives need to be found, they can be exported and sent straight to the customer.

The numbers reflect this too. Based on the team's own assessment, quote turnaround time has roughly halved.

Looking ahead: bringing sourcing and risk management closer together

The processes are running. The next step is going deeper. Jopp Electronics plans to connect Luminovo more closely to its company-wide processes through an SAP integration, to shorten data paths further and cut down on manual handovers. In parallel, the Risk (SCRM) module is being prepared. The goal is continuous monitoring at component level that surfaces risks before they turn into problems, both for Jopp Electronics and for its customers.
